Office of Grant Development

Faculty funding assistance

The Office of Grant Development (OGD) helps CCBC faculty and staff secure public funding at every stage—whether at the beginning with a simple idea, or at the end of grant close-out.

For almost 20 years, the staff of the Office of Grants Development has been privileged to bring a wide variety of public funding to the college. We stay current on trends, regulations and emerging funding priorities to support strategic investment at CCBC. We assist with:

  • Identifying funding opportunities
  • Proposal development, including drafting, budgeting, and institutional approvals.
  • Submitting proposals through our internal Governance Committee and serve as liaison with campus departments.
  • Managing grants throughout the award lifecycle.
  • Training, office hours, and consultations to strengthen grant-writing capacity.

Examples of current funding

Maryland Department of Health

Through a grant from the Maryland Department of Health, CCBC is funding tuition for peer recovery specialists, supervisors, and alcohol and drug counselor trainees. This grant helps develops online training; provides free community, industry, and higher education workshops. Counselors receive training to work with families, youth, and mothers impacted by substance use disorders, integrating harm reduction and culturally competent practices into counselor certification.

Maryland Higher Education Commission

To address Maryland’s teacher shortage, CCBC will recruit displaced federal workers and support conditionally certified teachers through alternative preparation pathways. The initiative includes developing new teacher education courses within the Maryland Approved Alternative Preparation Program (MAAPP) and launching a new MAAPP in partnership with BCPS.

Maryland Department of Labor

To support the workforce, CCBC has created four continuing education courses designed to prepare interpreters for the nationally recognized CASLI and EIPA certification exams. With funding opportunities like the EARN grant, interpreters could receive financial support to earn their certification. These courses provide practice exams and expert guidance to help interpreters succeed.

U.S. Department of Labor

CCBC is expanding its Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Training Program to meet Maryland’s growing need for professional truck drivers. With new equipment, added instructors and scholarships for eligible students, graduates can earn strong starting salaries. Students will benefit from CCBC’s powerful employer partnerships with companies like Amazon, FedEx and Carroll Motor Fuels. CCBC’s CDL program offers a fast track to family-sustaining careers in a high-demand industry.

U.S. Department of Labor

CCBC is helping to meet Maryland’s urgent demand for healthcare professionals. The program will prepare students for high-demand roles including Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), and Personal Care Aide. CCBC offers hands-on training, dual-enrollment opportunities, and direct pipelines to employment through partnerships with leading hospitals, universities, and workforce agencies.
