Kimberly Carl, a registered nurse, is the senior director of Johns Hopkins Home Health Services and Johns Hopkins Home Support. In that role, she oversees all activities impacting patient care delivery.
In addition to leading a large multidisciplinary team, Carl ensures all federal and state regulations and licensure requirements are met, including meeting the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Conditions of Participation for certified home health agencies.
Moreover, she ensures that Johns Hopkins Home Health Services meets the home health requirements for accreditation by the Joint Commission. She is responsible for the financial success of the agency through sound stewardship of valuable human resources and labor dollars, appropriate compensation plans, productivity standards and operating systems.
Carl attended CCBC before transferring to George Mason University in Fairfax Va., where she graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1990. She has spent her nursing career working for Johns Hopkins Medicine in many different capacities.
She received the Malinowski Innovation Award, through Maryland National Capital Home Care Association, for her work surrounding growing an engaged workforce. As part of those efforts, she partnered with Johns Hopkins Hospital to develop a cross-continuum nursing fellowship.
Carl has sponsored and co-authored several research studies, focusing on transitions of care and medication complexity in the elderly. She is passionate about home and community-based services and aspires to introduce new nursing graduates to the setting where people most want to be cared for: their homes.
Carl resides in Essex, Md. with her husband and two children. In her spare time, she enjoys exploring all the Chesapeake Bay has to offer.
