From the pen of local writer/filmmaker, John Waters, this is the story of how an overweight teenage girl tries to integrate the local TV bandstand show. Using 1960s Baltimore as a backdrop, her dancing exuberance and her fight for equality are captured in a nonstop, rock and roll score that has more than music as its message.
