Examines American History (Colonial period through the American Civil War) from several different perspectives and analyzes several themes including race, class, ethnicity, gender, and nationalism. An in-depth analysis of selected issues, periods, personalities or institutions is completed in an effort to understand the youthful nation's changing, often clashing, attitudes and values. Course offered every fall, spring and may be offered during additional sessions.

Corequisite(s): ACLT 053 or (ESOL 052 and ESOL 054.
