Veterinary technicians are critical thinkers with a curiosity for learning. They work under the supervision of a veterinarian to provide health care for animals in various settings.
A registered veterinary technician (RVT) is a vital member of the veterinary health care team, providing care not just for their animal patients, but communicating with and educating their human owners as well.

Graduates who pass the board exam can go on to become board certified in 16 different specialties in a variety of settings including private practices, emergency clinics, educational institutions, research facilities, zoos and more.
CCBC assists students with internship placements during the second year of study. Our graduates have a 100% employment placement after passing their boards.
We have a fully functioning clinic on campus. With a veterinarian present, we do full physical exams, give vaccines, monitor anesthesia during surgeries and use electronic medical records just like in a real office.
The Veterinary Technology Program is accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association's Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities (AVMA/CVTEA). Students who successfully complete the program are eligible to take the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE). The VTNE validates competency for practice.
January 1, 2023 - December 31, 2025:
The VTNE and Maryland State Board Requirements must be completed prior to submitting an application request to become a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT). The designation of RVT is awarded by the Maryland State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners.
