Financial Aid Standards

Qualifying for financial aid is a big step toward covering the cost of your education. To continue receiving financial aid at CCBC, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards as defined by federal, state and institutional policies.

SAP standards include:

Monitoring your SAP status

CCBC reviews your academic record at the end of each semester (or annually if you're in good standing). You can check your SAP status in SIMON via the myCCBC portal. If your aid is suspended, you’ll receive an email notification.

What if I fall behind?

Academic challenges happen. If your GPA drops or you don't complete enough courses, your aid may be suspended. But you may be able to appeal—especially if you’ve experienced documented extenuating circumstances.

If approved, you’ll regain aid for one semester and follow an academic plan to get back on track.

Need to check your SAP status or start an appeal?

You can track your Satisfactory Academic Progress and manage your financial aid status anytime through the myCCBC student portal. There, you’ll find:

  • Your current SAP status (e.g., good standing, suspension, probation)
  • Instructions for submitting a SAP appeal, including required documentation
  • Deadlines for appeal submissions

Important: If your aid is suspended, you are responsible for covering your tuition, fees and books until you meet SAP standards or have an approved appeal. You cannot use aid for audited courses and taking time off will not automatically reinstate your eligibility.
