Fundamentals of Physics I (PHYS 101)

Is the first in a series of courses in the basic principles of physics. Topics include Newtonian kinematics, dynamics, statics, momentum, energy, waves, and heat. This course is appropriate for students expecting to apply to one of the health care professional schools (e.g. , medical, physical therapy, pharmacy, dental, etc. ) and also for students in certain technical programs that require non-calculus based physics (e.g. , electronics, computer service, architectural drawing, etc. ). Students majoring in Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics are required to take the PHYS 151, PHYS 251, PHYS 252 sequence. The course requires knowledge of algebra and trigonometry. Course offered every fall, spring and may be offered during additional sessions.

Prerequisite(s): (MATH 135 with a grade of B or higher, or MATH 165 with a grade of C or higher, or any 200-level MATH course) and ACLT 053 or (ESOL 052 and ESOL 100) Lecture Hours per week: 3 Lab Hours per week: .
