Includes Newtonian mechanics, kinematics and dynamics of translational, rotational, and simple harmonic motions, momentum, energy, and gravitation. It serves as the first course in a set of three calculus-based courses in the basic principles of physics for students who plan to major in Engineering, Mathematics, or a Physical Science. The course requires knowledge of algebra, trigonometry, and calculus. Course offered every fall, spring and may be offered during additional sessions.

Prerequisite(s): MATH 251 with a "C" or higher and (high school physics or PHYS 101 or Physical Science Coordinator's permission) and ACLT 053 or (ESOL 052 and ESOL 054) Lecture Hours per week: 3 Lab Hours per week: .
