CCBC Alumnus Keith L. Ewancio ’92 received the 2017 Distinguished Alumnus of the Year Award at the CCBC Student Awards Banquet on May 9.

Keith L. Ewancio, a 1992 graduate of CCBC Essex, continued his education by earning his Bachelor of Science from Towson State University in 1994 and his Masters in Human Resources Development from Towson University in 2007. In 2017, he was named the Distinguished Alumnus of the Year.

“Keith exemplifies the CCBC student population in many ways, self-funding the majority of his education by working part time, while attending CCBC full time to complete his degree,” said Ann-Marie Thornton, Director of Development and Alumni Relations. “Keith used the tools he learned at CCBC to build a successful career, while at the same time demonstrating his commitment to the college, and giving back to his community.”

Over the past 20 years, he blazed a path in the field of human resources, serving since 2009 as lead human resources specialist and as a business analyst for the Social Security Administration’s Office of the Inspector General. There, he managed the human resources functions for the 550 staff who encompass the Inspector General’s North American Operations. His previous positions in human resources included working for such companies as the May Department Stores Company and Citigroup’s consumer finance division, CitiFinancial, completing his 10-year career there in 2009 as a Vice President of Human Resources.

In the Fall of 2014, Mr. Ewancio reconnected with CCBC when he joined a group of volunteers serving as teachers, assistants and mentors to students in Baltimore County participating in CCBC’s GED preparation classes. He continues to be a longtime financial supporter of CCBC’s fundraising efforts, supporting student scholarships at the college, to assist future generations of college students in achieving their academic goals.

A true servant leader, Mr. Ewancio’s commitment to public service brings credit to CCBC as he received numerous prestigious awards for his volunteer service and career achievements from the Commissioner of the Social Security Administration, Towson University’s Alumni Association Board of Directions, The Baltimore Federal Executive Board (FEB) and the National Academy Foundation (NAF). He is also the 2015 recipient of Towson University’s prestigious Deans’ Recognition Award, presented annually by Towson’s College of Fine Arts and Communication, to alumni who distinguish themselves through superior professional growth and accomplishment in their field.

Mr. Ewancio has served on numerous Boards and advisory committees throughout his career, and assumed leadership roles for fundraising campaigns supporting programs such as the American Red Cross of the Greater Chesapeake, the Susan G. Komen Foundation, Towson University’s 150th Anniversary Celebration and the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). He continues that tradition now at CCBC, through his generous contribution of time and resources and as an elected member of the CCBC Alumni Board.
